Bret Victor: A Brief Rant on the Future of Interaction Design ∞

Recently both Microsoft and RIM made viral “vision” videos depicting their idea of the near future. Microsoft’s arguably the better of the two, featuring the usual Minority Report-esque interfaces, and RIM’s “BlackBerry Enterprising Minds: Empowering mobile employees” (shudder)  is frankly just laughable (imagine the back-pains that smug IT prick must get after spending the entire day touching his screen like that!).

This article reminds us that touch-interfaces are but one of many possible ways to interact with devices, and that we should keep an open mind. And above all: to never lose sight of what makes us human.
